Horses, dogs and cabbage what more could you want from an A&P Show.
14th November 2017
Arrowtown Lifestyle Retirement Village is once again The Lake Hayes A&P Show’s main Red Ribbon sponsor, ‘we’re delighted’ says President Phillip Bunn.
‘Bringing people together where town meets country, creating memories with loved ones and catching up with someone you have not seen in a while, all makes for a great day out in the Wakatipu. ‘It’s our privilege and we are proud to support this iconic kiwi tradition of A&P Shows. ’ says Jennie Anderson, Arrowtown Lifestyle Retirement Village
Keeping it local is very important to our committee, who’ve pulled together a truly great show for 2018. There’s three new equestrian classes, dog agility demonstrations, your fermenting skills are wanted in the Pavilion. Arrowtown’s finest, The Brentwood Duo, will be singing in the afternoon. Of course we still have everyone’s favourites, great entertainment for the kids, an eclectic mix of trade stalls, pets, sheep and our wonderful grand parade.
We’ve introduced a pleasure riding section called Stock and Station, which includes a new obstacle course. Fun for all, great to watch and opens up the show to a new group of riders. There’s also a Riding Horse and a Hunter Pony Section. By popular demand, Talia Allison, the bareback rider is back– last year she wowed everybody with her incredible talent on horseback.
A must see for dog lovers is the dog agility show, it starts at 10 am and runs throughout the day. There are some very talented pooches out there. Thank you, Queenstown Dog Agility Club.
And so, to the Pavilion, we have some great new categories for both children and adults. Keeping on trend, we have a fermented veggie section as well as beer. Plus kids, it’s time to get creative, making paper planes, puppets, masks and roosters, the list goes on! Check out the schedule, all the traditional categories are there, so get growing, preserving and baking! Lots of great prizes to win and of course Uncle Bertie’s Champion cup for Pavilion Best in Show…
We’re really looking forward to seeing the Brentwood Duo singing on our stage in the afternoon. From Arrowtown, they are making it big on the international stage, so it will be something special to have them back home at the Lake Hayes Show.
And finally, the fashion in the field theme this year is Western, with prizes for best Cowgirl, Cowboy and Western dressed family.
There’s something for everyone at the Lake Hayes Show, see you there 13 January 2018.
